The much-awaited teaser of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Ranabaali is finally here, offering a glimpse into the intense and gritty world of Rahul Sankrityan’s period action drama. The teaser presents Vijay in a fierce and larger-than-life avatar as the titular warrior, promising an action-packed tale rooted in history, rebellion and resistance.
All about the film’s backdrop
Set against the backdrop of British-era India, Ranabaali explores a lesser-known chapter of the country’s history. Vijay plays Ranabaali, a fearless warrior who rises against oppression and fights for his people. The teaser establishes the character as a man driven by rage, courage and an unyielding desire to protect his land. His rugged appearance and intense screen presence add to the anticipation surrounding the film.

The makers have also given a glimpse of Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Jayamma. Her character is expected to have a strong emotional connection with Ranabaali, adding another layer to the period narrative. The film marks the couple’s first on-screen collaboration after their wedding and their third film together following Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade.
Teaser unveils Vijay’s fierce look
The teaser appears to lean heavily into the film’s historical setting, depicting the brutality and oppression associated with British rule. Vijay’s character is shown embracing his “savage” identity, a description that has been central to the film’s promotional campaign. The makers have previously teased Ranabaali as a legendary figure who became a symbol of resistance for his people.
The film also stars Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo, known for The Mummy, as the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector. Earlier glimpses have hinted at a massive confrontation between Vijay and Vosloo, with director Rahul Sankrityan revealing that their climactic face-off took several days to shoot.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Ranabaali features music by Ajay-Atul and is being mounted as a pan-India period action spectacle. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 16, 2026. With Vijay’s intense warrior avatar, Rashmika’s presence and a story centred on resistance against colonial oppression, the teaser has raised expectations for what promises to be one of the year’s ambitious period dramas.
