Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game might miss Onam 2026 release due to THIS reason

Dulquer Salmaan’s much-awaited I’m Game, which has been positioned as the actor’s homecoming to Malayalam cinema, may not arrive in theatres during the Onam 2026 festive season as planned. The film was earlier scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 20, but a new report suggests that the release could be postponed because of delays in post-production. The makers, however, have not officially confirmed any change in the release date.
Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game sees yet another delay
According to a report by Let’s Cinema, ongoing post-production work has reportedly affected the film’s August 20 release plan. If the postponement goes ahead, I’m Game could step out of the crowded Onam release race and avoid a potential box-office clash with other major Malayalam films, including Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa: Part 1 and Nivin Pauly’s Bethlehem Kudumba Unit.
The film is directed by Nahas Hidhayath, who previously helmed RDX. I’m Game follows Dan John, a carefree man who lives on the edge and has a talent for making easy money. His approach to betting is not based entirely on luck, as he uses an algorithm to place his bets. However, when his seemingly foolproof system starts working against him, his life takes an unexpected turn.
All about the film
The action thriller has already generated considerable anticipation, particularly because it marks Dulquer’s return to Malayalam cinema. The makers recently unveiled the trailer, offering a glimpse into his character, the film’s action sequences and its visual world.
The movie has also attracted attention for its music. Its first single, Mazhavillaye, was recently released. The romantic track has been composed by Jakes Bejoy and sung by Armaan Malik, with lyrics penned by Sharfu.
Apart from Dulquer Salmaan, I’m Game features Antony Varghese Pepe, Kayadu Lohar, Kathir, Mysskin, Samyuktha, Vinay Forrt, Jayasudha and Shyamaprasad in key roles.
The possibility of a postponement could significantly alter the Onam box-office landscape in Kerala. The film had been considered an important release for the festive season, given Dulquer’s popularity and the anticipation surrounding his Malayalam comeback. However, until the producers make an official announcement, the August 20 release date remains the announced schedule. Earlier, even the film’s trailer got postponed.
Meanwhile, Dulquer has several other projects lined up. He is set to headline the Telugu film Aakasamlo Oka Tara, written and directed by Pavan Sadineni, and will also star in Sri Sri, directed by Ravi Nelakuditi, alongside Pooja Hegde.
