While Toxic finally hit the screens on August 26, 2026, it was not without delays. The Yash-starrer was earlier expected to release last year, but was postponed. It was later scheduled to clash with Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar, setting the stage for a massive clash at the box office earlier this year. However, the clash was averted as Geetu Mohandas’ directorial was postponed. Now the film has finally been released, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who has been vocally supporting Dhurandhar right from the start, has now seemingly taken a dig at Toxic.
Ram Gopal Varma takes a jibe at Toxic
On Wednesday evening, the day of Toxic’s release, RGV penned a cryptic note on X saying, “Now watching Dhurandhar again.” Although he did not provide any context, netizens were quick to join the dots and decode his message. Many believed that the filmmaker was taking an indirect dig at Toxic’s negative reviews.

Commenting on his post, one user joked, “Bro is more toxic than toxic.” Meanwhile, another wrote, “I understood TOXIC is like DHURANDHAR? / watching DHURANDHAR is best than watching TOXIC.”

Ram Gopal Varma’s earlier comments about Toxic
This is not the first time Ram Gopal Varma has publicly spoken in favour of Dhurandhar over Toxic on multiple occasions.
After the release of Dhurandhar in December 2025, RGV wrote on X, “THE FIRE BALL of the SOUTHIES invasion into BOLLYWOOD has been KICKED back by AdityaDharFilms’ left foot, named #Dhurandhar, and now his right foot is getting ready with Dhurandhar 2. From what I saw of the second part, if the first SCARED them, the second will TERRIFY them.”
Later, in January 2026, he commented on the clash writing, “DHURANDHAR 2’s BITE will be TOXIC.” In February, the director once again wrote, “KGF 2’s GOlIATH like collections suddenly looked like a tiny DAVID in front of Dhurandar ‘s GOLIATH collections. But now the sequel to that GOLIATH Dhurandhar2, is the new DAVID staring up at Toxic, the fresh GOLIATH.”
He also added, “The principal difference between the two is that Dhurandhar respects the audience’s intelligence and Toxic presumes their dumbness.
