On the eve of the Telugu blockbuster Pushpa 2’s premiere in 2024, tragedy struck when a stampede broke out at Sandhya Theatre following the arrival of lead actor Allu Arjun. Several people were injured, and one woman lost her life. Her young son, Sri Tej, was critically injured and placed on ventilator support. The boy has been undergoing treatment ever since.
Allu Arjun`s family meets victim`s family
More than a year after the incident, Allu Arjun’s father Allu Aravind and his wife Sneha Reddy visited Sri Tej and his family to check on his recovery.
Reportedly, Aravind and Sneha inquired about the child’s well-being and spent time with the family. They also assured continued financial assistance, which the family has reportedly been receiving since the incident.
During the visit, Allu Aravind also promised to support the education of Sri Tej’s younger sister. According to reports, he told the family, “Study well, I will bear all the expenses for your education.”
Reports further state that the Allu family, along with the banner behind Pushpa 2, has been covering Sri Tej’s medical expenses and supporting the family financially since the tragedy. The young boy is currently undergoing rehabilitation and long-term medical care.
About the stampede
A woman died, and her son was critically injured in the stampede at Sandhya Theatre on December 4, 2024, during the premiere of Pushpa 2. The theatre management, Allu Arjun, and members of his team were booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The actor was briefly arrested before being released on bail.
Later that month, the makers of Pushpa 2 announced financial aid for the victim’s family. Speaking to the media, Allu Aravind had said that Rs 2 crore would be provided- Rs 1 crore by Allu Arjun, Rs 50 lakh by Mythri Movie Makers, and Rs 50 lakh by Sukumar- to support Sri Tej’s treatment and the family’s future.

Allu Arjun was last seen on the big screen in the film Pushpa 2 in 2024. He is currently shooting on his big budget sci-fi film directed by Atlee. The film will also star Deepika Padukone and many other actresses in the lead.
