Following high anticipation and several delays, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor C. Joseph Vijay’s Jana Nayagan has finally opened in theatres, bringing much joy to his fans. The release has sparked festival-like celebrations across the state, with theatres in several tier-II cities planning special programmes, including DJs playing Vijay’s hit songs ahead of the first show.

Meanwhile, fans across Tamil Nadu have turned the film’s release into a grand celebration as they gathered outside cinema halls to catch the early shows of Jana Nayagan on Thursday.
Visuals from Rohini Theatre in Koyambedu showed an enthusiastic crowd lined up outside the cinema, with many eagerly waiting to watch the first-day-first show. Supporters were also seen dancing joyfully, cheering, and celebrating the release, creating a festive atmosphere. On the other hand, posters of Jana Nayagan and large cut-outs of Vijay have also been put up by his fans at various locations.

Even in Chennai, many theatres are running overnight to accommodate the maximum number of shows of the film. Long before sunrise, fans had begun assembling outside the theatres. Many said they had spent the night waiting for the moment the gates would open. Viral videos show enthusiastic fans dancing and welcoming Vijay to the big screen for the final time. Firecrackers lit up the sky. Drumbeats, whistles, and chants echoed through the premises, creating an atmosphere more reminiscent of a festival than a movie release. Fans flocked in from different parts of Tamil Nadu. Some had travelled overnight from Madurai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, and Salem, while a few had flown in from Malaysia to be part of the opening-day experience.
About Jana Nayagan
Earlier this month, Chief Minister and actor Vijay, in an official Instagram post, announced the film’s new release date and also unveiled a brand-new poster, confirming that Jana Nayagan would hit theatres on July 23. Ahead of the theatrical release, Vijay watched the film with his family at the Tagore Film Centre in Adyar, Chennai, on Wednesday.
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay alongside Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, and Narain. The film features music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan, editing by Pradeep E. Ragav, and production design by V. Selvakumar.
