In shocking news, Haryanvi actor and singer Ankit Baliyan was reportedly shot and killed in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place on Wednesday, when Baliyan was just stepping out of the gym. A group of assailants reportedly started firing at him, leading to his death. Locals staged protests on the streets following his death, which were joined by his mother, who was seen protesting with her son’s body.

The incident reportedly took place at approximately 7:00 PM, when unidentified assailants fired close to 10-15 bullets at Baliyan as he was exiting a gym. The motivation behind the murder is still unknown.
According to India TV, the shooters were armed. After shooting the singer, they reportedly fled the crime scene. Eyewitnesses shared that Ankit was stepping out of the gym when he was shot dead.

One of the eyewitnesses said, “Ankit had come out of the gym after exercising. As soon as the firing started, we ran outside and found him injured after being shot. Ankit had been coming to this gym every day for the last one year. He arrived at the gym at around 4 to 4:15 pm. At least 10 to 15 rounds were fired. We saw four people running away. The accused were on foot and were carrying pistols in their hands.”
According to reports, Baliyan was gearing up to run in the next district panchayat elections. However, there is no official confirmation that it was his political decision that led to the shooting.
Police are currently investigating the matter. As the investigation continues, the police are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the murder. They are also reportedly analysing CCTV footage to identify the attackers, their origins, means of transportation, and escape path.

The killing of Ankit led to protests in the area, with local residents blocking a road, demanding the immediate arrest of the attackers. According to reports and videos surfacing online, Baliyan’s mother was also seen joining the protestors on the road with her son’s body.

Ankit Baliyan was born in Bantikheda village in Shamli. Residing in Rohtak and Sonipat, Haryana, he worked as an actor and vocalist. Ankit had performed in a number of well-known songs and built a name for himself in the Haryanvi entertainment industry.
