Watch: Khalifa actor Malvika Sharma shocked after being asked if she likes beef

Actress Malvika Sharma found herself in an awkward spot during a media interaction for her upcoming film Khalifa. When a reporter asked if she liked beef, the actress calmly clarified that she is a vegetarian and has never tried it. The question, however, did not go down well with several social media users, who criticised its relevance and sensitivity.
Malvika Sharma on beef question
Malavika was meeting members of the Kerala media as part of the film’s promotional activities. During the media interaction, she was asked, “Did you like beef?” The question appeared to catch the actress off guard and left her visibly annoyed. Despite her discomfort, Malavika responded to the question by making it clear that she is a vegetarian. “I am vegetarian, so I haven’t tried beef,” she said.
Netizens react
Many social media users expressed their displeasure over the reporter’s question. “Is it really necessary to ask such a stupid question?” asked an X user. Another commented, “They just want to create a rift.” “Actress Malavika Sharma is a Hindu with Brahmin heritage. Why would a journalist ask her if she ate beef? Will the same journalist ask a Muslim if they ate pork?” questioned a user. A user noted that the same Kerala media also taunted Priya Prakash for wearing saffron during her film promotion. Priya commented that ignoring such people is better because they do all this intentionally.
Malavika, who is from Maharashtra, has worked across different Indian film industries. She has been a part of Telugu films like Red, Nela Ticket, Harom Hara, and Bhimaa. She will next be seen in the Malayalam film Khalifa: The Intro and in the Kannada film Brindavihari.
Other actors questioned for consuming beef
In 2011, Ranbir, while promoting his film Rockstar, said he loved eating beef. “My family is from Peshawar, so a lot of Peshawari food has come with them. I am a mutton, paya, and beef fan. Yeah, I am a big beef fan,” he had said. He is still facing criticism for it, due to which some even questioned his casting as Lord Ram in Ramayana.
Apart from him, popular TV actress Rupali Ganguly was also accused of consuming beef by netizens. However, she clarified that she is a pure vegetarian.
