A dinner in Chennai turned into an unexpectedly special evening for Olympic medallist PV Sindhu. The badminton champion and her husband, technology professional Venkata Datta Sai, were recently hosted by actor Nayanthara and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, and what began as a get-together between friends seemingly ended with a new family bond.
PV Sindhu finds family in Nayanthara
Sindhu took to Instagram to share a series of pictures from the evening, along with a heartfelt note about the dinner. Reflecting on how quickly a simple gathering can bring people closer, she wrote, “Beautiful evening. Amazing food. Conversations from the heart and endless laughter.”

She went on to describe how the evening changed the way she looked at her equation with the celebrity couple. “You walk in as friends, talk about life, love and everything in between, and somehow leave feeling like you’ve known each other forever,” Sindhu wrote.
The badminton star also revealed that Chennai already holds a special place in her heart, but the dinner gave her another reason to feel at home in the city.
“Chennai has always felt like home with my beloved aunty Senthilkumararthi there, but after this evening, it somehow feels like I have a little more family waiting for me there now,” Sindhu shared.
She signed off the note with a sweet message for her hosts, calling Nayanthara and Vignesh “all heart”. The couple was quick to return the affection in the comments. Nayanthara wrote, “Love n onlyyyy love for u guys,” while Vignesh added, “Toooo sweeet u two. Lots of love from us always.”
The evening made for a rather wholesome crossover between two worlds, sport and cinema, with Sindhu’s post offering a glimpse into the personal equation she shares with the couple away from their professional lives.
Nayanthara’s upcoming films
On the work front, Nayanthara was recently seen in Geetu Mohandas’ gangster drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, which also stars Yash, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Akshay Oberoi.
The actor is also set to feature alongside Salman Khan in director Vamshi Paidipally’s upcoming film Monster, which is scheduled for Eid 2027. The project marks Nayanthara’s second Hindi film after her appearance opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan.
For now, though, it looks like her latest Chennai gathering has given her and Sindhu a friendship that may have just graduated into family.
