Yash’s Toxic was finally released in theatres after multipe delays on August 26, 2026. However, hours after the film’s release, a scene was reportedly leaked online. The leaked scene involved an intimate scene between the film’s lead pair, Kiara Advani and Yash. Consequently, the leak raised concerns around piracy. Now, Akshay Oberoi, who plays Tony in the film, has reacted to the leak.
Akshay Oberoi reacts to Toxic scene leak
Reacting to the leak, the actor pointed out how unlike some films which surfaced online even before their theatrical release, Toxic managed remained secure until it reached cinemas.
Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Akshay shared, “Some films have been leaked even before they hit the screens… But at least it only leaked post coming out in the cinema.” He admitted that he was not aware of the leak initially and went on to discuss how devastating it can be when a film is leaked even before its official release.
He further added, “I mean like there have been stories that are just so terrifying that, you know, like data, a disk, a hard disk leaked from some studio and now the thing is out even before it hits the cinema.” Expressing sympathy for everyone involved in making a film, he shared that he feels “immensely bad for the producer, the actors and so many people who put so much hard work.” He reiterated, “Thank God, that didn’t happen with us.”
The actor also spoke about how concerns around piracy are one of the reasons filmmakers and cast members chose to remain hush about their projects before release. Akshay stated that the Toxic team deliberately avoided revealing details about the film or its storyline while promoting the film. “That’s also why everyone is so fiercely protective. Like we didn’t talk about the film or the story at all. If you notice, no one gave any interviews,” he said.
Furthermore, Akshay urged audiences to experience Toxic the way it was intended by the makers on the big screen.
Yash and Kiara’s scene leaked
Despite the makers issuing a warning against recording scenes inside theatres and sharing key plot details on social media a day prior to release, clips from the film reportedly surfaced online. Some footage features Yash and Kiara Advani in intimate scenes surfaced on social media hours after the film hit the screens. Meanwhile, some social media users also claimed to reveal the plot details from the Geetu Mohandas directorial.
