Despite releasing amid much fanfare, Yash-starrer Toxic has received largely negative reviews, with the backlash even reaching a point where some audience members demanded refunds. Amid the criticism, the film’s Day 2 box office figures are out, and the gangster drama witnessed a sharp drop, earning only Rs 36.40 crore net in India.
Toxic Day 2 box office
According to Sacnilk, on Day 2 (Thursday), Toxic collected Rs 36.40 crore net in India across 22,629 shows. With this, its India net collection has reached Rs 137.50 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 164.50 crore after two days. Language-wise, Hindi contributed the highest share on Day 2 with Rs 23 crore, followed by Kannada at Rs 8.50 crore. Telugu contributed Rs 3 crore, Tamil Rs 1.50 crore, and Malayalam around Rs 40 lakh.
The film also maintained a decent presence in overseas markets, earning Rs 10 crore on Day 2. Its worldwide gross stands at Rs 190.75 crore.
Toxic’s Day 2 collection lagged significantly behind several major pan-India blockbusters. Dhurandhar 2 raked in around Rs 80.72 crore net in India on its second day, while Pushpa 2, KGF: Chapter 2 and RRR earned Rs 93.80 crore, Rs 90.50 crore and Rs 86.70 crore net, respectively.
About Toxic’s opening day collection
Yash’s Toxic earned Rs 101 crore net and Rs 120 crore gross across India on its opening day. The collection was led by the Hindi version of the film, which contributed Rs 55 crore, followed by the Kannada version, which was unable to cross Rs 25 crore despite a high occupancy. Meanwhile, the Telugu version earned Rs 11 crore on the day.
Despite Toxic reviews largely being unfavourable, the gangster drama recorded the second-best opening for an Indian film in the domestic market in 2026, behind Dhurandhar 2’s historic Rs 103 crore start.
Toxic is directed by Geetu Mohandas and stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles. The film was cleared by the CBFC with an A-rating. The makers had earlier issued a strong warning against piracy of the film and its scenes; nevertheless, a scene featuring Yash and Kiara was leaked online hours after release.
